Amelia is quite demanding but hey shes a newborn so thats to be expected. Lewis and myself are loving every min of it..just not night times! We've had lots of family down to see her and lots of lovely presents and cards.

Christmas was great although Lewis had to work the day which sucked. He was back by 3pm tho and then we watched The Incredibles and opened presents. Amelia was spoilt rotten by everyone and we have so many clothes im convinced she will never where them all. Lewis got 2 power drills so we gave one to my dad, and mum got given some very expensive chocolates that I've got my eye on. All in all it was a really nice day but we didn't stay up late. Lewis and myself were in bed by 10.30, not managing to catch the end of ghostbusters but alas was up most of the night with Amelia who decided to play silly buggers with us.

Roll on the new year...

I finally gave birth 6 days overdue and boy is she worth it. Lewis and I are both extremely happy and shes our lil pud just in time for christmas. She was born on 8/12/09 at 8.15am weighing 7lbs 15! Shes lost 7ozs when weighed today but midwife said that was natural. In all shes a very content baby and Im glad i went into the labour knowing the least. Lewis said it shocked him how much women go through and how bad he felt having done his "5 mins" yet he couldn't take away any of my pain. He was extreamly supportive and in all its over with now. yay :D

All photos have been uploaded to my flickr account.
Next Friay(11th) at 2.30pm im going into hospital to be induced if she doesn't turn up and im shitting it. I've heard nothing but uncomftable stories and I really wanted a natural birth. So this means i've got till then to try all the wives tales and help move this baby along..

Differant note completely, Im stuck on which site to start selling my stuff and could do with some adivce.

Etsy Popular but I dont like the fact its in dollars only. Are they resonably priced when charging to sell stuff on their site? Never used before

Folksy: the uk version of etsy, not so much coverage and not so much luck with that.

Ebay: Trusty ebay, Will work out more expensive I imagen in the long run. Bummer!

Bleh!

I've been keeping myself busy in making fun and funky jewellery. If you see anything you like just contact me :) . Its 2 days till Amelia "supposedly" arrives which could mean 2 weeks and im getting frustrated. I just want it over and done with now and her with us. I'd rather be changing stinky nappies at 2am than listening to daddy snore and being uncomftable. That i'm fed up of.

On another note we went into town with some friends for a browse around and Lewis and myself ended up buying an 8 wk old, totally nutcase of a hamster. Hes so cute we named him Rhino from the kids film Bolt. We had all the stuff such as caging, water bottles, bedding, toys etc from previous hamsters that myself and his sister had given us so We only needed to buy some more food and that was it. I gave everything a good sterilize when home and Rhino soon settled into his new home spending ages on his new wheel and hanging upside down.

He bit through his original box on the way home.

We might buy him a bigger house so we can put more toys in there. Just stuff to stimulate him.
I decided to rhinestone an old silver compact mirror I had. Not the best but it was the only thing I had to hand that i didn't mind if I screwed up. Do you know how hard it is to find out which glue professionals use? I scoured the internet for ageessss but no one seems to want to give up their secret! I even looked on flickr at professionals work to see how they went about it before I just gave up and dug straight in!
This was my finished outcome which isn't bad for my first attempt.

See morehere

Heres a basic list of materials of what I used and everything is still standing!

- Pva Glue , although Im going to try Gem-Tac Glue next which you can buy through ebay. I heard superglue burns the back of rhinestones? Thoughts?

- Hot Glue Gun for sticking larger gems/bow.

- Mixture of assorted flatback gems and random trinkets.

- An Orange Stick for picking up and placing gems. Tweezers will do but I prefered an orange stick.

The only thing with pva glue is dont apply it so thickly that you can't see how close the rhinestones are together. Once it dries clear, you may notice some rhinestones appear further apart than you first thought!

Even though Lewis will be bringing in the bulk of the money I can't bare to sit around and do nothing. I've given this alot of thought over the past year. As lewis is now doing a nvq to become a qualified chef(back up job) and working for his farther which will eventually become his main job, it looks like we wont be going anywhere soon. With that said I can't help but feel that sitting at home looking after little one and doing nothing for myself will be a BIG mistake. Some people are happy to be stay-at-home mums however thats not me and never will be (unless i win the millions then its a differant story!) which is why I want to use the time to gain a qualification.

I've decided to do a makeup course which consists of 90hrs work load and can be completed in my own time. I've always had compliments when I do my own and other peoples makeup which is why I want to turn it into a career. This course however has pros and cons.
Pros:

- Doing the course in my own time.

- Looking after Amelia whilest gaining a qualification.

- Works out Cheaper than university fees, accomodation etc.

- Debt free.

Cons:

- Gaining a Qualification but serious lack of experience with customer needs as opposed to uni.
- Not having the bonus of being shown by tutors different techniques and learning face to face.

- No access to university facilities such as photo studios for portfolio work. A makeup artists portfolio speaks volumes not just qualifications.

- Could be a dead end qualification? Waste of time/money.

As a years course at university is now totally out of reach due to Amelia, that and 15,000 debt is not something I want/can afford at the mo, doing this course is perfect for me. However, Im having to carefully plan out how I can make the most of it doing it this way so it benefits me in the long run.I've decided to focus next year on gaining the qualification, doing some further short courses based in london focusing on general makeup, bridal makeup, etc and part time work in a department store for customer experience.

The more I think about it the more motivated I am to start it and keep coming up with fresh ideas of how to establish myself out there as a makeup artist. However part of me can't help but worry its a dead end qualification with only the few making it. That and I dont really know alot on home learning courses. Am I making a big mistake?

Moving on, tomorrow is a busy day and with Lewis off, time for me to get most my heavy jobs out the way. Some which including:

- Taking the spare bed out of our upstairs lounge and moving my pink desk in.

- Cleaning my old school vintage desk with ink well in order to sell. Its so lovely but I really have no use for it and its taking up space in the garage!

- Order some more craft items i've had my eye on.

Well what with Lewis at work Im going to have MY turn on the new call of duty mw2. He hogs it. Chow Chow x

But ya still do it, why? because you love your significant other...that and the thought of a willy near my mouth at the mo makes me want to vomit. The other night though I finally said No. I was to uncomftable to enjoy it and luckily enough I have a sympathetic partner who was too concerned about me - bless!

So this week I kinda felt as though christmas came early. I ordered a bunch of stuff that arrived asap despite the royal mail strike we got going here and we finished the week with a visit from Lewis's Step-Mum, Kari and partner Lee who treated us to a shopping trip in Exeter.

Some of the stuff I ordered was a bunch of Nyx Makeup which I currently love! Its just a bummer that you can't get it here in the uk so I had to order it online through a differant supplier.

All of the makeup is awsome, perticually the pearl shadows which i love big time. I also got 12 Inked fine tip nail varnishes for doing decorative nail art which i automatically got out and played with. I didn't take a photo of them for some unknown reason but i ended up doing this ...

Not bad for my first attempt at nail art however the pink isn't that great. I'm slowly becoming more interested in nail design. Kari also treated me this weekend to a bunch of vital stuff for my hospital bag including the most comfiest pjs from next, trackie bottoms, toiletries, and a lovely sunday roast! However talking of christmas tomorrow I have to start doing all my christmas shopping. Sheesh I can't believe its November already..

This is the summery taken from the website.

"Are we all more racist than we realise or would like to admit?

For this Channel 4 documentary Jane Elliott, a controversial former schoolteacher from Ohio, is recreating the shocking exercise she used forty years ago to teach her nine-year-old pupils about prejudice.

Elliott is asking thirty adult British volunteers - men and women of different ages and backgrounds - to experience inequality based on their eye colour to show how susceptible we can all be to bigotry, and what it feels like to be on the other side of arbitrary discrimination.

Does Elliott's exercise still have something to teach us four decades on and in a different country? Presented by Krishnan Guru-Murthy, the exercise is observed throughout by two expert psychologists, Prof Dominic Abrams and Dr Funké Baffour, who will be unpicking the behaviour on display."

It would be interesting to know your thoughts on this.

Moving on I've bought my dress for the staff party which I'm DETERMIND to make. My due date is the 1st of December and the party is on November 25th. Lewis doesn't think i'll make it and that i'll pop before hand but so help me god The pregnant lady will go to the ball! Why am I so determind to go? Because work never do much to say Thankyou to their staff and if one party a year is all they are going to throw and bitch and moan the rest of the year then im going!

This dress is actually great for me. I have a tiny bump, like a football so I havn't got to worry about wearing floaty stuff nor have I bought a single " Maternity" thing - just normal clothing a size up or 2. That and I love it with a passion :D The best part it only cost me £5! So i'll be wearing this, some lacey leggings and my faithful topshop stud shoes(with flats in bag for later on). Is it sad that im already thinking up makeup and hair ideas? :(

I've ordered a hefty haul of Nyx makeup(you can't get it here in the uk) and some black gems in various sizes for my next recon project - my dressing table mirror. Ebay does things to me that no other site does o.O !! Refering to the mirror, ages ago I redecorated a dresser in hot pink, crystal handles and a stripper on top.

Da Daaaaaa!!

I got the dresser for free so I decided to repaint it and add my touch. I loves it! Anyway my boyfriend went onto to buy me a 3 peice french mirror for it without me knowing. The kind where you have 2 side mirrors attached to a main mirror? The only problem is the mirror is white with a tacky gold finish on parts and it doesn't really fit with the dresser(the thought was lovely though!). In otherwords it just sticks out like you plonked the 2 together. Something had to be done...

Hmmmmm

Now after much thought and staring at it, I've finally decided to spraypaint the mirror edges with black enamel and stick on some black gems/rhinestones of various sizes. However my last experience of using glue and rhinestones didn't go down so well. That said I dont really want to balls up a present from him and then complain about it like I have a habbit of doing. For some unknown reason the rhinestones came out as though they had a film on top and wern't as shiny as they should be?

What I want to know is what types of glue does everybody else use? Pva? Craft glue? Nail glue? I've seen phones covered and all sorts and yes I did use tweezers to place them done but my last attempt still came out funny looking :(

The other good peice of news I had was that I no longer have to attend hospital appointments as my Epilepsy is now classed as "Epilepsy in remission". Basically the neurologist said I dont need to go back unless I fit again which is unlikely and within 3 years I can come off my meds - wahooo. I've suffered bad with this since I was 4 n half with time spent in hospital, moving school(bullying), being refused jobs and embarassment. So at the age of 22 this is a big stepping stone! I just now have to mildy accept that im still not going to become a fighter pilot or a Astronaut though - bummer.

Its about a guy who was arrested for being naked in his home when he was alone. If you can't let it hang out there where can you?

Moving on today i've mostly been listening to 70s classics for no other reason than its something different to my ears.
I found some pictures of a mirror I got from a chairty shop that I added my touch to. The mirror was a bargain in price, a gold , vintage feel but unfortunatly had bad chips on revealing the white underneath. Matching the brassy gold that it was covered with was out of the question and painting it a bright colour would of revealed dents where the chips were so I painted it white and gently sanded parts to reveal the gold base. That way the chips are hidden and it kinda has an elegant french feel to it. Oh and yes the paint I just got off with some white spirit but sorry I don't have any photos of it completly upto date.
I guess I was expecting to walk into the sound of crying babies but in total there was about 4 woman there who had given birth. The other thing that I noticed is that I looked the smallest there size wise and I'm 33 weeks. All the other mothers were alot bigger than me and had the same body frame. So it wasn't as though I was comparing myself to a woman twice my size all round. In all it went really well.

So I'm back from my short but sweet vaction to Bourgeneuf, 70mins from Limoges in Central France. The weather was alright, food lovely and company great. The whole aim of the trip was to Lewis's Farthers new house which was awsome! We also wanted to get a feel of the area as we have been offered the option to go look after the house for 6 months untill they move in.

The house in itself consists of a beautiful 4 bedroom barn conversion which the previous owner had really done up, a adjoined barn type building(possible garage?), swimming pool, outside bar and 1acre of land. The garden is full of apple and pear trees and nuts to the plenty! However the area is VERY quiet which is what puts Lewis and I off. Admittedly we were only there for a long weekend so we didn't see many of the surrounding towns. We left wondering if moving there is the right thing for us and our future daughter? The pros and cons are something I wont dribble on about but it does need serious discussion.

Today has been a productive day. We have painted Amelias chest of draws white ready to match her dresser and reupholsterd and painted a chair.

I'm quite proud of my first attempt at reupholstry. I painted the chair, rewebbed the base, added new foam and covered it with the help of Lewis. Best of all it takes our weight and its comfy!

On another note I had an appointment to see the midwife today. The appointment consisted of the usual checkups, listening to little ones heartbeat and measuring how big she is. She started the appointment by saying "well your 33+ weeks and how are you feeling? well? shall we have a check". I'm sat there thinking 'eh? 33 weeks?' She spoke so quickly I barely had time to get a word in edgeways and tell her that im not that far along. Due to all this I'm now boooked in for a growth scan as my baby is rather small... according to her that is! When home Lewis n I went over all my records and she is infact wrong. However im not turning down a scan just to check everything is ok, I'm not a midwife so I don't know whats normal and what isn't?

[Edit]So turns out we are wrong. I am 33 weeks as I found out there is 40 weeks in a pregnancy. Roll on Tuesday to find out if everything is ok .[/Edit]

I've finished decorating Amelias new mini wardrobe and ordered 60 baby hangers to hang all the clothes and coats we have been given. That said though I still have plenty to get on with in the temp nursery when back next week - reupholstering a chair, paint and decorating a matching 3 chest of draws, sorting all the baby clothes and sorting out the jumble that is currently our new bedroom.

Now I must scoot as i've been governed by the Mr to come back to bed and give him a hug - what a softy! Chow Chow x
